We have developed our vaccine recommendation based on the American Association of Equine Practitioners guidelines. They vary based on the age and use of the horse. Here are our recommedations based on our geographical location:
Foals out a vaccinated mare: -1st EWT at 4-6 months of age - Booster EWT 4 weeks later
- 1st West Nile at 4-6 months of age - Booster West Nile 4 weeks later
- 1st Influenza/Rhinopnumonitis at 4-6 months of age - Booster Influenza/Rhinopnumonitis 4 weeks later
- 1st Rabies at 4-6 months of age -Booster Rabies 4 weeks later
Optional vaccine: Strangles given at 4-6 months of age Strangles booster given 4 weeks later
Folas out of unvaccinated mare: -1st EWT at 2-3 months of age - Booster EWT 4 weeks later
- 1st West Nile at 2-3 months of age - Booster West Nile 4 weeks later
- 1st Influenza/Rhinopnumonitis at 2-3 months of age - Booster Influenza/Rhinopnumonitis 4 weeks later
- 1st Rabies at 2-3 months of age -Booster Rabies 4 weeks later
Optional vaccine: Strangles given at 4-6 months of age Strangles booster given 4 weeks later
Adult:
- EWT given twice a year (spring and fall) - West Nile given twice a year (spring and fall) - Influenza/Rhinopnumonitis given twice a year (sping and fall) - Rabies given once a year (usually in the spring)
Optional vaccine: Strangles once a year
Sport Horse:
- EWT given twice a year (spring and fall) - West Nile given twice a year (spring and fall) - Intranasal Influenza/Rhinopnumonitis given 3-4 times a year - Rabies given once a year (usually in the spring)
